    Hey all,

As with before, should you find discrepancies with the website, please email them to me at admin and we'll take care of them as soon as possible.

Headshots are not linking correctly, this is a known issue and will be resolved ASAP.
Twitter icon in footer is the facebook icon, also a known issue.

Aside from these, anything else, feel free to send the email and a fix shall be issues as soon as possible.

    Thank you,

    Edgar

    Edgar,
The right half of this page is black to me and everything views on the left side. Im not up on how feeds work exactly, I subscribed to the feed and I can change the feed to RSS or Atom and get full screen but as soon as I click any thing on the page it goes back to the right side black screen. Is it in my settings?
  • Felicia · 11 months ago
The content is supposed to be on the left side of the page, black on the right. YOu can subscribe to a feed and add it to a RSS reader, Netvibes, Google Reader etc. So that all those feeds show up for you in that Reader and you don't have to go back to the website every time to see new posts showing up.
  • Mondo · 11 months ago
Ah, cool that makes sense now. Thx
  • Ed R · 11 months ago
Glad that someone aside from Bad Horse is gleeful. I'd hate to see you make someone your mare.
Just for the record, I get gleeful due to you fairly often. You seem to have that effect on people.
  • Ed R · 11 months ago
OH! Forgot to say- new site looks great, nice and clean, really sleek.
And if you like typography, you need to go visit Sam Tudyk's website: www.tudyk.com. Yes, they're related.
  • Gemmy · 11 months ago
    Hey, nice update!

The site looks very clean and modern, with a lot of easily accessible content. The style seems to really reflect your online persona too, which is great. I wish the content area was centered on my widescreen monitor, though, as having it stuck on the left margin makes it less reader friendly - IMHO of course.

Thanks for all that you do. It's so nice to see you share so much of yourself with your fans. We appreciate it.
  • worldofhiglet · 11 months ago
Oooh! Now I have website envy all over again! Wonderful design (ignore hubby who asked if you were modeling for Freeman's Catalogue on the front page) and lots admire.

And - no more excuses for you not blogging more! Which is a win all around. Well done, Dane, Wizard of Wordpress, you've done Felicia proud.
  • Chris Hayes · 11 months ago
    Hey Felicia...

I like the look of the new site a lot!

I would agree with Gemmy, though - a centered layout would be a bit more friendly to the eyes.

Another thing to look at, if you start getting serious about blogging, is a comment system like Intense Debate, with threaded comments, and a common login across blogs (to help maintain identity throughout the innanets). No, I'm not associated with them (I'm not even using them on my blog, yet) though I have used it some on other blogs, and I'm a big fan of threading.

P.S. I'm really loving your transparency as a celebrity persona. Here, and on Twitter.
  • Felicia · 11 months ago
We do have threaded comments, and I'm thinking about Disqus integration, have to look into it. I really appreciate the comments all, I'm pretty psyched about the whole thing, have some odd blog topics I want to do :)
  • Chris Hayes · 11 months ago
Ah, ok. Nice, good on you.

Though I didn't get an email to tell me you'd commented. That would be nice, too. ;)
  • Chris · 11 months ago
Felicia - love your work - especially Dr Horrible of course :)

If I may, I'd like to recommend JS-Kit for commenting - Facebook Connect, Video and Picture comments, OpenID, Advanced Spam Protection, Promotion of your content across 600,000 registered sites and more!

Totally customizable so you can make it look awesome like your new site design :)

Please let me know personally if you'd like help getting it set up! chris@js-kit.com

    Hope this helps :)

    Cheers,

    Chris
  • Mike · 11 months ago
Wonderful new site update! Clean, modern, easy to navigate. Dane really knows his stuff.

Thank you so much for the blogs, updates, twitters (although my phone seems to revel in not allowing me to get the text notifications) and everything else you do to keep us informed. It is appreciated
  • Alexis · 11 months ago
Love the new website look. Simple but elegant and it manages to fit in everything without looking like a bomb exploded in the middle of everything, scattering words and pictures everywhere. :D
  • Lydia · 11 months ago
Wow, I felt instantly at home. I love simplicity the most, especially if you don't see the complexness behind the scenes. :o)
  • Ferralangel · 11 months ago
    Felicia~

New Site looks great! Very clean and an air of sophistication and is quite user friendly. Definitely looking forward to the increased blogging. I am also in agreement though, the centering of the page would be much more feng shui-y for the site and our reading pleasures!

    Great job Felicia and Dane!
  • Katie · 11 months ago
Gasp! It's beautiful, Felicia! It definitely suits you. :)
    Fantastic work, Dane!
The easy color scheme gives it a nice mellow feel while still looking professional and slick. Then the little splashes of personality, like the background sketches and the scrap of floral pattern at the top give it the needed warmth and individuality that really make it feel like your site. Love it. Absolutely love it.
One thing I noticed was that there isn't a top menu link for the Contact and Videos pages. I didn't see the links for them at first because they were way down at the bottom. I suppose that might have been intentional, though.
Love the new acting reel, too! Makes me want to watch Warm Springs again.
Bravo! I look forward to reading your blog in such a pretty setting. :)

Oh hey, just noticed the list of usable code tags for the comments down here - handy!
  • Zenthia · 11 months ago
I'm a big fan, you are so beautiful, your voice adorable and you are so expressive! It makes me smile to see you so twitter patted over your new website. I look forward to perusing it on a regular basis :)

  • Dani · 11 months ago
    Uhhh! Very very very pretty!
    Congratz to Dane!

    *goes look around the site*
  • alienufo · 11 months ago
The new site is very sleek looking! Well done.

Only complaint I have is that the text is so small. I have to put my glasses on to read it lol.
  • thetoneloc · 11 months ago
site looking very clean. congrats and looking forward to following your blog posts. keep up the good work:)
  • Sympodius · 11 months ago
Loving the new look. Especially great to see the RSS feed is working now. Disqus might be worth looking into for easy interactivity if you fancy that sort of thing.

I'm a big typography fan as well. I always typeset my books and papers myself before the printers and publishers get them. Really liking the typography being used here. Very soft, but confident and expressive.
  • Mark · 11 months ago
Love that you say 'lol' you're like totally one of us! You rock! Also The Guild got me interested in WOW and now I can't stop playing it! Thanks Felcia :|
  • Philine · 11 months ago
    Wow, pretty!
I adore the new page. What else can I say... *speechless*
    Philine
  • Ian "Sol Invictus" Cheong · 11 months ago
Very classy. I totally dig the new design.
  • Lisa Shearin · 11 months ago
Wow! I absolutely love the new site -- crisp, clean, and easy to navigate. Bravo!

    Lisa
  • Ace · 11 months ago
Love the new look! Very clean and basic.

    *applause applause*

    5000 XP to you.
  • Edgar · 11 months ago
Did I mention that Felicia decided to add white text and white blobs on all her post pictures from now on?

    Just kidding...
  • GreatBigHippy · 11 months ago
Lovin the whole Web 2.0 intergration thang!
Checked out the site after watching all the Guild episodes in one go last night after a UK games program said they were pretty good..... and they were right!
btw, what font is your page header in? Is it a free to use one or did you have it designed for you? (I imagine all the big stars have their own font designers.... I bet Bruce Willis has two..)
I'll be checking up on updates regularly.
Do more cool stuff.... or there will be... consequences.....

(please disregard the above comment if it comes across as creepy. - do whatever - see if I care)

You're new site design looks great. I've recently been working on converting my own website to Wordpress and the page specific widget interface sounds like a really good idea, I'm going to have to look into it myself.
  • One Inch Man · 11 months ago
The new site design looks fantastic!
The only problem I have with it is the fact I spent the last week revamping mine, and was pretty pleased with it, until I saw this and realised it doesn't really look that good afterall >.>

    ;)
  • Soma+ · 11 months ago
    [!]
  • Quentin · 11 months ago
Wow. Impressive. My WordPress site is pretty basic, but I'm going to get ahold of my own guru and see if he can tweak.

    Thanks!
  • Ben · 11 months ago
Kickass new look! I thought I was at the wrong site for a second...then I read the headline (duh).

(Still looking for an "edit" button for post-- hint hint Ed :) )

I was out of town for a few days and the Flog gets a new look and it seems there was some serious linking going on because that last post had hundreds of posts (hundreds???!!! sweet!)

Keep fighting the good fight Felicia!
  • Felicia · 11 months ago
I know, the Twitter post got crazy! I just wanted to be helpful :) Hopefully I can think of other interesting things to post like that, or not.
  • Quentin · 11 months ago
Hey Felicia. Any way I could get you to let me know which widgets he's using for your "I just listened to" and "Reading" categories? I've been using third party stuff like Gurulib and Shelfari, but I like the way yours fits. Less seams.

    Thanks!
  • Felicia · 11 months ago
I believe the Last.fm widget is a custom job, as is the GoodReads one :( I will ask him more specifics though.
  • Quentin · 11 months ago
Perfect. Thank you! If they're custom, I'll just put the irons to my WordPress guy to come up with something. If not, I guess we'll have to chain our wrists together and have a good, old-fashioned knife fight.

    My money is on him.
  • Dane · 11 months ago
    Hey Quentin,
The LastFM was some custom PHP I just stuck in the sidebar - but the GoodReads is a plugin I've been working on, and hope to share soon.

For someone with a rudimentary knowledge of PHP though it should be pretty easy to connect to either service.
  • Quentin · 11 months ago
Thanks Dane. Looking forward to the plugin!
  • Heather/singsinthecar · 11 months ago
The new layout looks great! I wish I had the skills that you and your web designer possess!
  • Kiala · 11 months ago
    Yay Dane and Felicia!

As Dane's Wife™, I was privy to some of this process and although my SPECIFIC REQUEST for extra pegasuseseseses was not heeded, I think it turned out pretty good anyway.

    I guess.

    (PEGASUSESES)
  • Felicia · 11 months ago
I would not be opposed to more Pegasii or Unikeaurnx on the site. He seemed to resist the lady flair :( LOL. I love the trademark by your name, classic! :) Your man done good Kiala!
  • JourneytoFamily · 11 months ago
Very cool. I look forward to reading more posts from you! I love following you on Twitter. Can always count on a good laugh from you.
  • Chris Feyrer · 11 months ago
Looking good! CSS validates properly but there are 40 warnings you might want to have Dale look at.
    http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?ur...
  • Dane · 11 months ago
    Hey Chris,
    Thanks for the feedback.

Unfortunately it's pretty tough to get workd to validate completely, what was important to me is that the site looks as good as possible in all browsers - which I tried really hard to accomplish.

That being said - I totally welcome the feedback!

    Thanks.
  • Baylink · 11 months ago
HTML requires that *ampersands in URLs in HREFs* be quoted, and is therefore Broken As Designed. Don't let the validation errors get you down.
  • Chris Feyrer · 11 months ago
Haha, well I figured you were getting plenty of "this site rocks" - which it does indeed, so I was trying to be constructive. That said, this site rocks! Heehee.
  • Chris Feyrer · 11 months ago
Bah, I meant DANE. It's funny, Madison, WI is located in DANE County. Now I'll never forget.
  • Chris Feyrer · 11 months ago
Oops, may have lost my original post.
    These pages validate as CSS
    http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?ur...

Dane (I had put Dale, oops) can look at the warnings if he wants.
  • Chris Feyrer · 11 months ago
    CSS Validation for this site
There. I should read fine print more often.
  • Joshua Cyr · 11 months ago
Nice new look. I noticed the headers right away. Nice use of sifir (the flash you mention) to make the headers a much better typeface, and search engine / screen reader friendly.
  • CurtinParloe · 11 months ago
Love the new site. I was never 100% sure about the orange...
  • Josh Luth · 11 months ago
The new site is awesome. I'm a big fan of simplicity and this suits me. Gratz!
  • Little Willow · 11 months ago
Congrats on your new streamlined design!
  • Baylink · 11 months ago
    All hail Dane.

I'm not a big WP guy, but I'm pretty impressed anyway. Do like the nameplate font, too; can't pick the name out anymore; Cheltenham Black maybe? Nice choice, though -- I, like you, am a typography geek.

Not much for frozen yogurt, though.
  • Jeff · 11 months ago
What? No screaming Eagles or Giant Robots? WTF?

    Kidding.

All gorgeous, Felicia--just like you. Great work, Dane.

    Jeff
  • Alex · 11 months ago
    Hey Felicia,

Love the site! You are awesome, I'm a big fan, and an avid Guild watcher!

Can't wait to see you in more stuff, you rock!
  • C. Patrick · 11 months ago
Hi. Just wanted to thank you. You with "The Guild", Sandeep Parikh with "Legend of Neil", and the Baranovsky bros. with "Break a Leg" have inspired me to work on my own web series (which I would shamelessly plug here if it was done yet, which it isn't -- but by goooly it'll be good, or at least fun). Primarily it was you, though. "The Guild" was my entry drug into the time-eating world of web series (series-es...series-esses?). And I also have a "Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog" addiction. But I'm thinking about going to a clinic for that. Cheers...
  • Buns and Chou Chou · 11 months ago
    Site rocks, of course!!
  • Manny · 11 months ago
Very nice site! Wordpress is so awesome. My latest favorite plugin is Global Translator, I highly recommend it for your sidebar so all the people in the world can read your blog. The translation caching is so Google friendly as well.
  • EdSG · 11 months ago
:sigh: How can I criticize such a nice, well-designed (props to Dane) and pretty website. You make it hard for us ;-P
  • ken · 11 months ago
    dane rocks!!!

    :)
  • Roger de Flor · 11 months ago
Please, forgive my ignorance but, in the main page you can read "XOXO Felicia".
May I ask what XOXO means? Because in my language it means... well... it´s a non elegant to say vagina.
  • Felicia · 11 months ago
LOLO! It means hugs and kisses! I guess that could involve a vagina, but I didn't mean it to HA! :D
  • Klumsi · 11 months ago
This new design is wonderful, much more user interactive friendlier than the last =)
Wordpress is the best, isn't it?!

Good luck to you all with the Streamy awards!!
  • Amor · 11 months ago
    i love the new look!
  • Franklin · 11 months ago
    What happened to the forums?
  • Felicia · 11 months ago
I took away the forums because I never went to them and I felt guilty for never visiting and wanted to consolidate the site.
A new group has been created on the community.watchtheguild.com site called "Flog Refugees". It's cool because there's an active chat community there as well as forums, so it's more trafficked. I hope that's cool with everyone :)
  • CaptainSpalding · 11 months ago
Hey Felicia! I met you at PAX, and asked you about Retarded Policeman, and you promptly introduced me to Greg, was it? In any case, I am ass deep into Commentary! The Musical! Holy crap! Truly inspired stuff, and obviously props to Maurissa and the Whedons, and the rest of the gang. Better Than Neil absolutely slays me! I'm hard-pressed to decide which I like more now; the Original flavor, or the Extra Crunchy Commentary! Oh, and I've "caught Guild fever" as it were, and am back into it, big-time. Thanks Vork for the invite! Knights of Goooood! And thank YOU!

  • Stewart · 11 months ago
I love the design of the Web site. Not everyone can create simple elegance, but everyone appreciates it. It's amazing how much you don't put into a design that makes it stand out!

Kudos to Dane on his excellent work, and my compliments on your excellent taste in design.

I saw your links to comic creators, and it made me want to ask if you ever saw this:

    http://stelfreeze.blogspot.com/2008/08/one-red-...
    http://stelfreeze.blogspot.com/2008/08/penny-fo...
    http://stelfreeze.blogspot.com/2008/08/nickel-a...

Brian Stelfreeze is a a great comic artist, and these are from a series in his blog last August.

I thought I'd pass that along since I found your new site as I thought you might appreciate his comments and artistic interpretation.
  • Daynah · 11 months ago
This layout is very beautiful! :)
  • Henrik · 10 months ago
The site is beautiful. The Guild is brilliant. You are inspiring. Thank you so much :)
