Clara: WTF?
Do you think people would be interested in watching me refresh the Forever 21 New Arrivals page every half hour or so?
I'm just brainstorming here. There are no bad ideas.
Can I RSS it?!?!! :O
My name is Anders, live in Sweden. Had (unfortunately) not heard about you before I saw the Guild episode today, and just wanted to say I liked it very much. :) You are so good. Ok, now I'm going to continue to browse this cool site of yours.
best regards
Anders
Also - Power Strip Baby's tiny suit was adorable! Tiny suit, complete with tiny tie! Squee!
Fantastic episode, naturally. :-)
Oh wait, I should be posting this at the Guild site. Ah well, double'd!
One of my co-workers excitedly just came into my office and showed me this link on ebay...people are shelling out big bucks for an UNSIGNED picture. So the question is, when are you rolling out some Feliciadise (like merchandise but Felicia-centric. Actually, I guess the term would also apply if you were on a private, beautiful sandy beach) Anyway, when they are ready to sell, put me down for a Felicia mug. I picture something that says, "Drink of me as my cup overfloweth." (I'd most certainly refer to it affectionately as, my Fug.)
I'm sure that's got to be the next step in your master plan...Get high-profile acting gigs. Check. Create insanely popular comedy show. Check. Put my face on a bunch of trinkets and coffee mugs...check?
Rather than spend 20 minutes figuring out html to make a button, here's the whole link...

Cheers!
Firstly, is there a particular reason the episodes generally come in at between 5 and 7 minutes in length? Is it the internet-age version of Hitchcock's correlation of film length to the endurance of the human bladder, or something relating more specifically to your show and writing style?
The second question goes right along with the first; what is the page count for your scripts on average? Is it a standard minute a page, or are the some inherent circumstances with doing a web series that you've found need to be taken into account?
If you can't tell, I'm working on a web series, and am trying to get as much information as possible. I'm a big believer in research. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!
I'm definitely going to post more blogs on this topic, but since you asked:
My scripts are 6-8 pages generally sometimes 9 this season. I think 5-7 minutes turned out to be right this season when I added extra storylines in. Last season episodes were a bit shorter, but the plot was more linear. Dr. Horrible was 15 minutes, 3 pieces, so really, it's what your story NEEDS to be. Always cut the fat and see what's left.
I notice when the cast is at their desks we average way over a page a minute. I think editing is a lot tighter with this form because people alone tend to laugh shorter or to themselves. That's why we screen in front of audiences (on the rare occassion) with subtitling on, because the pace doesn't allow long laugh breaks.
I'm going to do a "Top 10 Tips" on Web Video next week, hope that will help too! :)
The other big problem is that I live in Nashville. We do have quite a few industry types here, but it's not really a hotbed of cinematic activity right now. Of course after reading that call to arms over at Tubefilter that you linked to the other day, I've decided I just have to get it done, come what may.
Looking forward to the Web Video Tips article! Thanks again.
I was introduced to your show by a friend (ironically the same friend who introduced me to wow haha) And I LOVE it. It is so funny and addicting! Its also really awesome to see some girl gamers out there, sometimes it feels like myself and one other friend of mine are the only ones!
I'm curious to know if any of season 2 is going to come out on podcast, I just downloaded the first season from itunes last night, but I would love to have the new episodes to watch on my ipod as well :)
Looking forward to the next episode so I can find out who that girl who answered stunt guy's door was!!!
~Keira~
I didn't get who Clara was until watching The Guild for the first time today (I have valid excuses! Yes, plural!!)
Great show! Really enjoying catching up on all the episodes.
I'd also like to add that my ewok has toothache. Mainly because I just googled it and got no hits.
/ListensToInterview...O-MMMM-G! 20 years of violin, and you do nothing with it....oh now it's over. Sorry, the magic is gone. You officially have one less stalker to worry about. LOL. Well, someone once said, "You never ever really quit the violin. It quits you, and you'll be back." Pretty creepy x2 there. But, if you took the time and money to put (20) years into something, and it is your basis for music theory, it might be worth something to continue, even if you don't advance it? Or, is your final disposition the 'sunk cost', and move on? Have you ever looked into jazz, country, or Irish 'stuff'(idk) You'd be surprised what talents other performers have...Will Smith sings...you should hook up with him. That'd be SOOOOOO RAD! K, I want you and Will on You-Tube, rock'n out. Serious!!!
Anyway, just writing in to pick on you. Glad you are still gaming. Hope you have a good day anyway. By yourself. With no violin. /20yearsFlush! /cry /SingsBabyComeBack LOL! (sorry, very bad humor)
So I got my Dr. Horrible DVD in the mail yesterday-- the musical commentary is so insanely brilliant, oh my gosh! I had no idea it was going to be THAT wonderful!! Of course, that led me into the depths of the internet where I have spent the last several hours watching all the episodes of "The Guild" that exist so far and epically failing at playing ninja ropes. :P
I really love "The Guild"-- awesome characters and definitely the funniest thing I've seen in a long time! I'm not into gaming (I probably would be if I tried it but I REALLY don't need more things to be obsessed with! haha) and its great that you don't have to be to enjoy the show. I can't wait for more episodes, I think I've been spoiled by watching like 20 of them in one day, its going to be so hard to wait to see the new ones! Keep 'em coming!
You are incredibly talented! Thanks for maintaining and updating your website! :)

P.S I was browsing your Goodreads account on facebook as I really need some new books to read...but there are so many! Do you have any suggestions for a really good book or series to start with? ;)
Mr C: Yes, the guilt is there. This year I plan on getting back on the wagon. The problem is that the violin is hard to sound hip, so I gotta figure out something band-wise to do with it. Or do a concert.
I do have plans on transferring my recitals from college to mp3 and uploading them to the site. Maybe hearing myself in my prime will motivate me to get back into it :) THx for the guilt LOL! :)
And if the recitals aren't already in digital format, then this woud be a great excuse to convert them before they degrade (just make sure you have good back-ups - a digital life is a terrible thing to lose).
as always great. I love this one. I hope to hear from you soon
